Morgan always has some wonderful advice, delivered with her own witty style.
I said at the beginning that I don’t do “writing advice”.
That was kind of a lie, because now I’m going to tell you about the terrible, dangerous nexus between all those carefully garnered facts and writing fiction.
Beware, beware: because the days/weeks/months you’ve spent organizing all those incredible details into easily-accessible files can trip you up.
It’s called the info-dump for good reason: it will appear like giant mounds of text: blow-by-blow summaries of exactly how the monetary system in your world/France in the 14th century works; recipe-by-recipe descriptions of forty-seven different kinds of food served at a medieval banquet; long political diatribes detailing the exact relationship of one peerage to another in a semi-feudal society.
You must resist. You must. Plenty of authors don’t, and while there are readers who like a fictional story to read like a high school text book – I’m not saying there…

What is Science Fantasy?
Science fantasy is a mixed genre within the umbrella of speculative fiction which simultaneously draws upon and/or combines tropes and elements from both science fiction and fantasy. Where science fiction does not permit the existence of fantasy or supernatural elements, science fantasy explicitly relies upon them.
They poisoned his planet, massacred his people, and violated his mother.

The irrepressible allure he feels for an Earth-born visitor, Itanya, threatens to overwhelm him, yet through her, Zrahnz discovers the secret that can ease the devastating agony of his illness. Could she be the key to his survival and the future of Triaxeyn?
With Q-1 Raydren at his side, and with the influence of the Oracles, he discovers corrupted truths and a forgotten prophecy. But he must make a crucial, life-saving decision, or else his people and everyone he loves could be destroyed.
Piercing the Darkness is the third novel in The Rise of Nazil trilogy. After the treacheries, the eruption of violence, and numerous battles (both personal and physical), in Faélondul a final confrontation is inevitable.
Whereas The Rise of Nazil (book I) is definitely dearest to my heart, Piercing the Darkness is my favorite novel in the first trilogy. (That is not merely because my son is on the cover) Although I have not been able to commission an audio book for my fantasy series (the cost for novels of this size are astronomical), I have worked with the exceptional Scott Cummings to create audio excerpts. You can enjoy an excerpt of Piercing the Darkness below. As with his excerpt for Seed of Scorn, his voice acting talents are remarkable and merge seamlessly with mine.
Enjoy your short journey to the land of Faélondul! If you would like a free sample (six chapters) of The Rise of Nazil, you can receive one HERE.
If you will be in the Atlanta area July 14-16, this would be a great event to visit. You still have time to register at a discount! BOGO ends soon.
