April was the beginning of my 2018 convention season. I couldn’t think of any better way to kick off an extraordinary year than attending JordanCon. It’s my favorite convention honoring the literary works of Robert Jordan and his Wheel of Time series. This year, Brandon Sanderson attended, and it was phenomenal. If you are in the Atlanta area and haven’t attended JordanCon yet, add it to your itinerary for next year. You won’t be disappointed.
Not only did I enjoy mingling with my JordanCon family and chatting with Brandon Sanderson, but I also met two fantastic authors I’ve known only through social media. Morgan Smith (my amazing editor) traveled from Canada, and Tom Fallwell (a co-author on an upcoming epic) traveled from Oklahoma. I’m hoping this won’t be the last time that they visit.
I was pleased to meet a few local authors I know as well. Mark McCray (adult swim), JD Estrada, and VR McCoy attended for the first time, too.
Check out the JordanCon WEBSITE for information about next year. Whether you love art, novels, gaming, or cosplaying, this is the family friendly event you’ll want to be a part of!
WhoLanta was my second event of the year. Although it was slower due to numerous uncontrollable issues (one dealing with horrible construction), I had a wonderful time and look forward to next year. Some of my vendor friends and I enjoyed visiting the Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey display. They have some exceptional props from Dr. Who and more.
To find out my schedule for the year, click HERE. A few events aren’t listed, but I’ll be updating soon. Come and visit me at OutLanta and TrekLanta soon! I’ll be paying homage to Nichelle Nichols (as Uhura) and might bring my bat’leth in case I need to battle more Klingons! As they say, “Heghlu’meH QaQ jajvam.” Just kidding. Qapla’!
Exciting things are coming with spring!
First – The updated version of my debut novel The Rise of Nazil is complete and available on Amazon! If you haven’t journeyed to the fantastical lands of Faélondul, now is the time. The Rise of Nazil earned a Readers’ Favorite award in 2017 and numerous reader awards. Complex characters, epic battles, fierce Desu Beasts, divine Guardians, and a conflict that reaches beyond the physical that will determine the fate of humans and Nazilian alike. Faélondul Awaits!
Second – My new novel Kurintor Nyusi just released! Like my Nazil series, Kurintor Nyusi has the same multi-layered plot style, diverse & relatable characters, both mental and physical battles, and plot twists you won’t see coming. Add an exceptional female protagonist, flawed gods, a tormented priest, new & old magic, and so much more, that encompasses the fantastical Fifth Kingdom. What’s not included that my Nazil series has? That grimdark edge. If you love epic reads to titillate your every receptor, discover the Fifth Kingdom.
Third – I’ve mentioned some upcoming events this year. Below are just the first few that I’ll be attending. However, if you have the time and are in the area, I recommend coming to JordanCon in April. Even if you don’t want to drop by my booth (but why wouldn’t you want to visit me?), JordanCon is a family friendly event and my favorite of the year. Great People…Great Con.
Urban Nerd Con
Hope to see you there!
I thoroughly enjoyed my first JordanCon convention. The environment and every aspect of the event was spectacular. I met some amazing creatives, cosplayers, and readers. I hope that they enjoy their visit to the land of Faélondul and meet me again to explore more of my fantastical worlds.
The JordanCon staff was exceptional and the atmosphere was welcoming. I will definitely be there for as long as they continue!
Just a few of the numerous photos I captured at the event. Many more are posted on the JordanCon FB page.
Lezayen, my seven-foot panther hybrid from Adnamax found a few admirers. Well, I can’t blame them. He is quite irresistible.
I even met and held a werewolf baby. So precious!
Cannot wait until next year!
If you would like to come out and meet me, I’ll be at Treklanta this weekend and….
